For the concept of "Sankt Johann II" every picture motif appears twice: each on the front and on the reverse side of a printed sheet. By this means as well as by the transparency of the sheets the duplication unfold itself in further multiplications througout the page sequence, as the motifs overlay each other or even merge into each other. The work describes a closed circuit of reoccurrence, in which one image precedes another, but also follows another.

Heidemarie von Wedel is a visual artist and writer based in Stuttgart, Germany

Starting from collections of either her own or found pictures her artistic work revolves around forms of visibility within a media dominated visual culture. In a process of re-use, re-view, re-combine, in shifting context or repetitions her work is characterized by an ambiguous occurrence of images or images on images. She founded UND EINS as a label for her bookworks as part of her artistic practice.
