Sur la route de Pier Paolo Pasolini is a trilogy inspired by Pier Paolo Pasolini's travelogue, La longue route de sable, the road along the Italian coastline that he drove along in his Millecento in the summer of 1959. This little-known writing already contains all of Pasolini's poetry, his authentic, sometimes incisive remarks on the state of his country, his love for it... Chantal Vey has taken up this itinerary again, alone at the wheel of her van, revisiting the places he described, sixty years earlier.
This exploration of the Italian territory led Chantal Vey to travel thousands of kilometers, to collect photographs, video-graphics, sounds, words... As for Pasolini, this quest has a poetic value, much more than a documentary testimony.
Sur la route de Pier Paolo Pasolini is composed in three chapters according to the chronology of the itineraries, and unfolds as close as possible to the adventure, echoing the words of the Italian poet. This is revealed from different angles, through photographs, photograms, texts, drawings and quotations ... From page to page, the desire is to bring the reader, the viewer, to travel in this Italy of today, and to arouse or awaken his curiosity on this illustrious artist, that is Pier Paolo Pasolini.
The book is crossed by the logbook kept by Chantal Vey, allowing the reader to follow step by step the discoveries, sensations, encounters that the artist has made throughout his journey.
