From 2012 to 2014 the photographers Fyodor Telkov and Sergey Poteryaev travelled the regions of North Russia, documenting the lives of the Mansi, Selkup, Nenets and Khanty people. The book tells a complicated story of interactions between the cultures, transformations in the ways of life driven by global processes, relationship with nature and environment, inner belonging and the quest for identity. The sequences of portraits, details of interior, landscapes in the changing seasons capture the atmosphere of one moment in time on the North Line, providing at the same time a unique ethnographic document of life in the region.
