“Three trips in 1987 and 1989, originally starting in Tibet and going via the Muslim and Chinese town of Kashgar, have led me to the North-West border region of Pakistan”, remembers the photographer Christine de Grancy. Her images show how the people of this old and proud country remained unchanged and caught in the same problems over the past years, and have arranged their lives around these. Her images also show how the people have to survive in an economically poor and geopolitically difficult region.
