The Gugging artists, their art, as well as their living and working space in the House of Artists have inspired artists from various genres from the very beginning. Whether music, fine art, literature, photography or fashion design: Gugging has been a magical place for artists since the 1960s. This also served as a source of inspiration for David Bowie for his album “1. Outside” visited the Gugging artists and took the atmosphere of the visit into the studio. The Austrian writer Gerhard Roth immortalized the Gugging artists in both his literary and photographic work. In addition to Bowie and Roth, the book also includes Arnulf Rainer, Peter Pongratz, Johann Rausch, and the photographer Christine de Grancy, who accompanied Bowie in Gugging. The Scottish fashion designer Christopher Kane is also the subject of the exhibition and publication.
