"Rudolf Polanszky, born in 1951, is an unusual, non-conformist artist who went his own way throughout his life and always led the so-called art connoisseurs and art critics ad absurdum.
He belonged to the group of Austrian Actionists of the 1960s and 1970s. His views and statements prompted me to use an interview lasting several hours as the basis for the text of the book, and to do so in his own idiom. As a photographer, I was particularly impressed by his versatility of expression, but also by the whole ambience in which he lives and works. This led to the decision, in the course of several visits, to present his life in this book in time for the opening of his exhibition at the Vienna Secession. The title of the book - Lost & Found - is based on a statement by Polanszky that he only works with "free" material. For example, a piece of sheet metal was originally created for a specific purpose. When it is thrown away, it is, so to speak, freed from its original intention. And from this - his - art can emerge.
It is an interesting picture book in modern design, showing him, his wife, his surroundings and a large cross-section of his artistic work, complemented by his original, unsparing statements. The introductory text by his friend Benedikt Ledebur shows further facets of his personality." - Horst Stasny
