Martin Kollar (1971) Born in Zilina in Czechoslovakia (now Slovak Republic), studied at the Academy of Performing Arts Bratislava, the Film faculty, camera department. He has been working as a freelance photographer and cinematographer since he has been graduated there.

Kollar uses to work on long term projects and residencies (Eastern Europe, France, Germany, Israel). He has received several grants and awards, including Prix Elysee in Lausanne, Oscar Barnack Award and the Backlight Photography Award in Finland. His work has been exhibited across the world, including Dox Prague/Czech republic,  Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin/Germany,  Maison Europeenne de la Photographie, Paris/France, Prague biennale, MOCA Shanghai/China and Guandong Museum of Art in China

He has published three photography books, Nothing Special (Actes sud 2008) Cahier (Diaphane 2011) Field trip (Mack 2013)

He worked on several films as a cameraman, including Koza(Fiction), Velvet terrorists (Fiction) Cooking, history (documentary) Across the border: Five views from Neighbours (Documentary, segment "Helpers") 66 Seasons (documentary) Ladomirova morytates and legends (documentary), In the Box (animated)
